What To Look For With Bike Insurance
21st January 2009
From scooters to sports bikes and super bikes to classic models, there are many different shapes and sizes of bike out there to choose from. Having an insurance policy in place is as important as the bike itself because without one, you cannot legally take to the roads.
This is simply because the impact modifications can have on bike insurance is different compared to car insurance. As it goes, most modifications made to a car will raise the cost of the premium, whereas a minor modification to a bike doesn’t tend to cause much change. If a significant modification is made which adds notable value then the premium would rise accordingly.
Keeping your insurer informed of your annual mileage can also help. Insurers realise that the less mileage you put on your motorcycle then the less likely you are to make a claim, so drivers with a low annual mileage usually receive lower premiums as a result. Indeed, there is no point paying extra for time you haven’t even spent on the road.
Could You Cope With Car Trouble?
7th January 2009
The most important thing is to be ready for something to happen at any moment. It is a good idea to know how to change a tyre, as this can get you back on the road faster than you would be able to if you had to wait for help. Furthermore, occasionally check your spare tyre to make sure it isn’t flat too.
Make sure you have a few basic but essential items in your car boot as well. Basic items such as a blanket, a warning triangle and a torch can all make a breakdown of any nature easier to handle. It can even prove beneficial to make sure that you have a mobile phone with you before setting off on your journey. It may even be an idea to invest in a car charger, in the event that your battery does become low whilst out on your travels. You never know when your phone might come in useful.
It is easy to assume that as long as you can call someone to come and help you in case of emergencies or problems, you will be okay; but even if that is the case you may still have to wait for help. What’s more, if you are experiencing extreme weather conditions, a car isn’t always the best place to be stuck waiting.
